Kathi, President of UMS is a licensed South Carolina Real Estate Commission PMIC and Board of Director Member of AHC of SC. She has held a HCCP designation from the National Home Builders Association, and has participated with SAHMA and CCAH during Annual Conferences in South Carolina. She is also a South Carolina Notary.
Kathi has over 20 years experience in multifamily property management, which includes Conventional, Condominium, Rural Development 515, HUD 236, HUD 202, Section 42 LIHTC, Home Funds, Housing Trust Funds and Tax Exempt Bond communities. Her management portfolio exceeded 3,000 Affordable/Conventional units at a time and also included the supervision of the Compliance for excess of 4,000 Affordable units.
Executive Vice President
Bill has over 30 years experience in management, training, and business development. He held real estate licenses in several states, and has overseen several new and rehab construction projects. Recently, he was in the field services industry, where he performed audits and asset verification for major financial institutions.
Bill has attended many Affordable Housing conferences and workshops, including Developing Affordable Energy Efficient Housing, the SC Tax Credit Roundtable, the Public Policy Commission for Affordable Housing Coalition and Spectrum's LIHTC C3P Training Seminar. He holds a C3P designation and is also a South Carolina Notary.
Vice President, Compliance
Savannah, joined our Compliance Department in 2009 after 2 years of experience in the Property Management industry as she served on the Board of Directors for United Housing Associates, Inc. Prior to joining our team, her background included Web Design, Marketing Design and 7 years in Customer Service related industries.
Savannah is a South Carolina Notary. She has attended SAHMA tax credit training, Tax Credit Training with A. J. Johnson, and Rural Development courses through Spectrum. She is a HCCP Designate, as well as a S.T.A.R. recipient. She is also a licensed Property Manager with the South Carolina Real Estate Commission.
Hailey has over 10 years’ experience in property and Asset Management. Her experience includes LIHTC, Conventional, HUD, HOME and Tax Credit Bond, she has also assisted in many REAC inspections. Hailey will be responsible for the real estate investment portfolio including regulatory compliance, budgetary oversight, risk management and capital expenditure process. Before joining United Housing Associates, Hailey worked for a developer and was responsible for managing all aspects of the development and ownership of affordable housing projects which include targeting specific sites for development, negotiating purchase contracts, ordering and analyzing market and feasibility studies, underwriting, securing an allocation of tax credits from state housing agencies, negotiating with equity partners and lenders, managing due diligence and overseeing the closing process. Following the closing period her responsibilities include managing the general contractor during building /renovation phase, ensuring that the project is on time and within budget.
By utilizing Section 42 Low Income Housing Tax Credits, Historic Tax Credits, Tax Exempt Bonds, HOME, 1602 Funds and HUD Risk Sharing Programs she has assisted in completing more than 15 affordable housing projects and was an Asset Manager for over 3,200 units.
Director of Property Management
Christine has been in the housing industry for over 24 years, which includes Tax Credit, HUD, Conventional and Rural Development. She joined the UMS TEAM in 2010 as a Property Manager for one of our beautiful communities in the Low Country.
With enthusiasm and dedication to her owner’s vision with strong values, Christine grew into a valuable member of our leadership team, and in no time was given the opportunity to transition into our Director of Property Management. Her management portfolio consists of 1506 units. Her expertise is working for and with the public for over 20 years. She has a passion for understanding the needs of one’s self-goals and focuses 100% on achieving them. Her responsibilities include team building, customer service, marketing and training. They are the key essentials to becoming successful at what you do.
She holds a Real Estate License for the state of South Carolina and has attended many Tax Credit trainings held by SCSHFDA and obtained her Rural Development Certification in 2002.
Christine is also a Notary for the State of South Carolina.
Director of Compliance
Laura has over 20 years of affordable housing experience, including serving for 12 years as the Assistant Director of Compliance Monitoring for South Carolina State Housing Finance and Development Authority (SCSHFDA). During this time, in addition to conducting on-site compliance reviews, training and supervision of the agency’s compliance monitoring staff, Laura also created compliance manuals and monitoring procedures for the LIHTC, Tax Exempt Bond, HOME Investment Partnership and Housing Trust Fund Programs. She conducted compliance training for SCSHFDA workshops, break-out sessions for SAHMA and the Governor’s Palmetto Affordable Housing Forum. Laura also provided comprehensive small group trainings upon request for developers, owners and management companies.
Annually, she represented SCSHFDA by participating in meetings sponsored by the National Council of State Housing Authorities. These meetings with compliance staff from other states and IRS personnel were conducted in order to develop national, standardized LIHTC policies, discuss common issues of concern and promote federal legislation to support affordable housing programs.
Her training and certifications include: National Compliance Expert, Housing Credit College (LIHTC); S.T.A.R. Spectrum (LIHTC, Rural Development and HUD regulations); Liz Bramlett Consulting (LIHTC); Uniform Physical Condition Specialist, Nan McKay; A.J. Johnson Consulting, TheoPro (Tax Exempt Bond); Housing and Urban Development, TDA, Inc. (HOME Investment Partnership Program); Fair Housing; Property Management, SC Real Estate School for Success; and, SC Health and Human Resources (Facilitation Skills, Leadership and Supervisory Development).
